Shapeshifter

Poem by Holly Ann Kasper

Losing weight
Didn’t heal
The girl inside
Who’s heart broke
To learn
That the world
Would judge her
By her body.

The only healing
She ever found
Was in building
A world for herself…
Inside of herself
That saw her as whole;
With every part
Of her body and soul
Rendered undeniably good.

No more shapeshifting…

The time had come
Instead to shift the world inside;
Where rest and purpose
Met her and many souls like her
In a unity of delicious belonging.
Where the weight of her mind slipped
Away and her heart found rest.

Where there was no need to resist
But to simply sit in the beauty
Of her deeply nourished soul.
