Secret Society

Poem by Holly Ann Kasper
5/16/22

I’m part of a secret society
A group of people
Cloaked in tiger stripes
And happy bellies
Eager to learn
And quick to listen

Unbuckled from the
Rules of the public graces
Extra pockets of time
Like spare change
Adding up to ages
Of space for thinking
Space for growing
Time to solve the worlds pain
Energy to heal the earths abuses

People who have found
The wings we each have
But theirs untied
And detangled from
The hidden trappings

We didn’t know
there were wings below it all
We didn’t know
There was time
When we let go of their memos
We didn’t know
We would feel it inside
And have fuel to soar
When we stopped
Being a gear
In the hidden machine

Now there is
Space, time and energy

But only in
This secret society
Of thinkers and challengers
Of doers and be-ers
Of creative world changers
